Ohio Rep Marcy Kaptur hospitalized after car crash on way to church

Kaptur remains alert and active following the crash, her office said

Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio, was hospitalized following a car crash Sunday morning near Toledo, her office said in a statement.

Kaptur was on her way to church when the wreck happened, her office said.

She suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.

"This morning, Congresswoman Kaptur was a passenger in a vehicle on her way to a church service when the car she was traveling in was struck. She is active, alert, and being treated for non-life threatening injuries," her office said.

Officials said the crash remains under investigation. 

"We look forward to additional information from Toledo Police as they investigate the accident," her office said.
