{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}There was a serious and heartbreaking scene at Ford Field on Sunday when linebacker Jack Campbell was left motionless following a violent collision on a tackle, leading to him being removed on an immobilized cart.
After the play, when it became clear Campbell was in distress, trainers and doctors rushed onto the field.
Soon, players from both teams kneeled, watched, and some seemed to pray as Campbell was receiving attention on the field.

{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The fourth-quarter collision that led to Campbell's injury was violent but not necessarily beyond what is routinely seen on most NFL game days.
Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson caught a pass in the middle of the field and was soon sandwiched by two Lions' defenders, including Campbell. The problem is Campbell arrived at the contact while falling to his knees and appeared to have his head slanted upward, so he made contact with his facemask rather than his shoulders and arms.

Campbell's head and neck seemed to compress into his torso upon impact.

It took several minutes for medical personnel to complete their regimen for moving Campbell.
