Sean McVay on drafting Ty Simpson, MVP Stafford, 10th season as Rams HC | FULL INTERVIEW | The Herd
Los Angeles Rams HC Sean McVay joins Colin Cowherd to discuss the Rams drafting Alabama QB Ty Simpson 13th overall, coaching reigning MVP Matthew Stafford, and being the Rams HC for his 10th season.
Sean McVay is still the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams thanks to his model wife Veronika Khomyn McVay. She challenged him on the kind of leader he wanted to be after he started contemplating calling it quits.
He was burned out. The Rams were coming off of a rough 5-12 season following the franchise's Super Bowl LVI win, and he almost quit coaching, he told Bussin' With The Boys back in May.

That's when McVay says Veronika got him back on track and made him realize that he would only be walking away from the NFL because he couldn't handle losing. He said, "She’s like, 'You know, that never really sounded like the kind of leader you wanted to be.' Boom. It hit me like a ton of bricks."
That forced McVay to take a look at the kind of leader he wanted to be. He didn’t want to be the guy who ran to the broadcast booth for a bunch of money due to the fact that he lost a few games.

He wanted to bounce back and turn the Rams around. He also wanted to be the kind of leader that was in phenomenal shape and could hop on a boat and hold his own with his bikini-clad wife.
McVay has accomplished that. Veronika posted a picture on Instagram of the two on a boat, which has since gone viral, and it's put the rest of the NFL on notice.

Sean McVay and his wife Veronika are holding the Rams to a high standard
McVay is in incredible shape and there's probably not a head coach-significant other duo in the NFL that can compete with these two. This is a whole new level of winning and of leadership.
To think he was seriously thinking about leaving it behind for the comfort of a broadcast booth. McVay, at 40, looks like he could take a few snaps still if his team needed him to.

That's setting a standard. That's the type of leadership that can only come from being challenged when you're the head coach of a five-win team. The Rams are going to be a team to contend with this season.
