Sonia Kashuk's Fall 2013 Beauty Forecast

(Richard Burbridge)

"The cat eye was all over the runway, but the iconic '60s look with feminine classic liner was replaced by sultry smokey winged out eyes with pointed tips in blackened jewel shades. The trick for the perfect angled outer corner is to follow the line of your lashes, drawing a triangle shape and then filling in with color. Use a clean buffing brush over the edges to soften harsh lines, ensuring the shape is defined, but beautifully blended. For added trend appeal, try executing this look in the eye color of the season — a beautiful rich red, as seen at Gucci! Whether it’s a burnt cranberry or rustic Bordeaux, you will look high-fashion all season long." Product Recommendation: Eye Couture in Jewel of an Eye (Associated Press)

"Matte makeup was everywhere at Fashion Week, from nails, to skin, and even hair. But my favorite, and most prevalent example, was on the lips. Velvet formulas that offer a flat, but not dry effect will bring a richness to lip colors, making them pop. Surprisingly, one of the top colors on the runways was a bright couture red, as seen at Badgley Mischka. Unusual to the dark lips of fall, this shade looks incredibly smart in the soft, shine-free finish.  Also, be sure the outline of the lip is slightly blurred to avoid looking too drawn-on." Product Recommendation: Velvety Matte Lip Crayon in Rosey Nude (Associated Press)

"Nude faces with flirty, flushed cheeks are also big and provide a feminine twist for fall. Try a bright, but translucent pink for a healthy glow, as seen at Sass & Bide's recent collection. Apply blush to the apples of the cheeks, swirling backwards towards the hairline." Product Recommendation: Beautifying Blush in Flushed (Associated Press)

"Nude nails are always big on the runways because they are classic and don’t distract from the clothes, but recently they have become exceedingly popular on the streets.  This fall will be no different.  When you aren’t rocking your usual deep fall hue, try experimenting with a skin tone neutral or grey nude. These nature-inspired, pebble tones, as seen at Vera Wang, are understated and delicate with a twist of chic modernity." Product Recommendation: Nail Colour in Nudist (not yet available) or Tauped (Reuters)
