Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is speaking “more and more” according to a statement from her spokesman Wednesday.
This is the first confirmation that Giffords is actually able to speak, one month after suffering a bullet wound to the head.
Giffords spokesman, C.J. Karamargin, said Giffords began to speak for the first time within the past few days, even asking for toast for breakfast.

He says "she's working very hard and it's paying off," and that everyone at the office is elated.
He says they always knew Giffords was a fighter, and that "she's not going to let this thing win."
Six people were killed in the attack outside a supermarket where Giffords was holding a political event. Thirteen were injured.
