Asthma app helps patients manage condition

Asthma is one of the most common long-term diseases in children, but adults can suffer from it as well.

The disease can cause a patient to experience difficulty breathing, chest tightness and wheezing.  It may become difficult for patients on the go to manage these symptoms.

In an effort to help these patients, a doctor created a free app called AsthmaMD, which allows a user to log asthma-related activity like wheezing, triggers and length of attacks.

Users are also able to share the entries that tracked their worst symptoms with their doctor.

The app also allows a user to track medication and possible causes, and asks for information like the location of symptoms so the data can be used for research.

Researchers can then look for connections between higher asthma rates in a specific location or at a particular time or date.
