Chipotle offers free booze to woo customers in the Midwest

Chipotle is still trying to win back customers by reinvigorating its approach to food safety and customer satisfaction after several foodborne illness outbreaks last year.

From the introduction of a loyalty programs to frequently doling out free food coupons, Chipotle is practically begging burrito bowl enthusiasts to come back.

Now, the fast-casual chain’s newest ploy is free booze.

Yes, you heard that right: At certain Midwest Chipotle locations, you’ll be able to take advantage of two-for-one margarita and beer deals.

Chipotle Is Going on a Massive Hiring Spree and Will Add 4,000 People to the Team in One Day

Enjoy a drink half-off, or if you've got a friend or are just really thirsty, get the two-for-one special available from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 300 locations in Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Alcohol, sold at over 1,700 U.S. locations, isn't a huge moneymaker for the chain, accounting for about 2 percent of the company's sales.

Unfortunately, it’s only one deal per customer, so you won’t easily be able to back for seconds and thirds--to get sloshed with a side of guac — at least not cheaply.

The promotion will run through September, but, if successful, may spread to other regions.
