Though Jenelle's mother recommended both adoption and abortion, the teen was set on keeping her baby. "I honestly thought it was going to be a piece of cake taking care of a baby," Jenelle tells MTV. On the episode, Jenelle's long distance boyfriend Andrew is unemployed, drinks heavily, lives with his parents, and served time in jail. By the end of the episode they had broken up. Jenelle updates MTV: "Andrew and I are currently not speaking to each other. Since Jace was born, he has only visited him three times."
