Amber Portwood, one of the stars of MTV’s reality series “Teen Mom,” was arrested Monday on felony domestic violence charges, TMZ reported.

Portwood was booked into a Madison County, Ind., jail at 4:21pm local time. She was placed on a 24-hour hold, with bail set at $5,000.

In an episode of “Teen Mom,” Portwood was seen repeatedly hitting her 24-year-old ex-fiance Gary Shirley, her daughter's father, prompting local officials to launch an investigation in September.

Portwood, 20, was formally charged Monday with two counts of domestic battery and one count of neglect of a dependent, all Class D felonies, and an arrest warrant was issued. She was also charged with one misdemeanor count of domestic battery.

If convicted on all three counts, Portwood faces three years in prison and fines of up to $10,000.
