Matt Lauer accidentally calls Jessica Chastain Oscar winner
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Matt Lauer gave Jessica Chastain quite the career upgrade on the “Today” show Friday morning.
Minutes before interviewing the actress, Lauer told the audience he’d be back after a commercial break with two-time Oscar winner Jessica Chastain.
The problem? Chastain’s been nominated for two Academy Awards but has never won (for “The Help” and “Zero Dark Thirty”).
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}When the commercial break ended, Lauer’s co-host Savannah Guthrie was the one who introduced Chastain, 39, before the “Today” duo conducted a joint interview. She said, “We are back. It’s 8:49, with two-time Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain, who stars in the new movie ‘The Huntsman: Winter’s War.'”
Guthrie didn’t flub Chastain’s credentials, and there was no mention of Lauer’s mess-up either. The rest of the interview went off without error.
