Johnny Depp Compares Photo Shoots to Rape: Who Is the Most Ungrateful Star?

Johnny Depp always seemed to be a down-to-earth guy who's almost embarrassed by his stardom. But now he's gone from humble to downright offensive. Talking to Vanity Fair about his hatred of photo shoots, he says: "Well, you just feel like you're being raped somehow. Raped ... It feels like a kind of weird -- just weird, man."

Depp is OK with posting with fans, "But whenever you have a photo shoot or something like that, it's like -- you just feel dumb. It's just so stupid." He's also a bit dismissive of the "stupid" $100 million he made last year.

"Basically, if they're going to pay me the stupid money right now, I'm going to take it," he tells the magazine. "I have to. I mean, it's not for me. Do you know what I mean? At this point, it's for my kids. It's ridiculous, yeah, yeah. But ultimately is it for me? No. No. It's for the kids."

But Depp has already learned the foot-in-mouth lesson the hard way. He was forced to apologize on Tuesday when a spokeswoman for Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN), the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, took him to task for his comments.

"While photos may feel at times intrusive, being photographed in no way compares to rape -- a violent crime which affects another American every two minutes," Katherine Hull told FOX411 Tuesday.

Depp apologized to the organization later that day. "I am truly sorry for offending anyone in any way. I never meant to. It was a poor choice of words on my part in an effort to explain a feeling," he said in a statement. “I understand there is no comparison and I am very regretful. In an effort to correct my lack of judgment, please accept my heartfelt apology."
