Don Omar's Impromptu Thanksgiving

On the heels of releasing his new album “Meet the Orphans,” Don Omar, like a growing number of Americans, was eager to volunteer this Thanksgiving Day. (Courtesy of Marcos Gabriel Zapata)

“Giving to the less fortunate, especially in these difficult times, is very important,” he said.
(Courtesy of Marcos Gabriel Zapata)

“People often forget about the elderly,” he added. “They tend to be left in homes, in most cases without their family around them.”
(Courtesy of Marcos Gabriel Zapata)

What is Don Omar’s favorite thing about Thanksgiving? “Arroz con gandules and potato salad,” Don Omar answered. “I like a traditional Puerto Rican meal.” He was happy to provide a hot meal and a smile to those in need of a little holiday cheer.
(Courtesy of Marcos Gabriel Zapata)

Don Omar went around the room shaking hands and sharing both jokes and messages of encouragement to the residents.
(Courtesy of Marcos Gabriel Zapata)

It was an afternoon of smiles, laughs, and a few happy tears for both residents and staff members. (Courtesy of Marcos Gabriel Zapata)
