'Crocodile Dundee' Star Paul Hogan

Actor Paul Hogan, star of the "Crocodile Dundee" movie trilogy, has been barred from leaving Australia until he pays a disputed tax bill, his lawyer said on Thursday. The 70-year-old actor, who currently lives in Los Angeles and first gained a public profile in the United States with his cheerful offer to "slip an extra shrimp on the barbie" in Australian tourism TV ads in the mid 1980s, arrived in Sydney last week to attend the funeral of his mother Florence Hogan. Hogan was served with an Australian Taxation Office order after landing last Friday that prevents him from leaving Australia until he settles a multimillion dollar tax bill, lawyer Andrew Robinson said. Hogan rose to fame in the 1980s when he appeared in the film "Crocodile Dundee," where he plyaed a hunter from the Outback who traveled to New York City.

The 1986 film "Crocodile Dundee" was the most successful Australian film ever and earned Hogan a Golden Globe Award.

Hogan made the slogan "throw another shrimp on the barbie" famous.

Paul Hogan married his "Crocodile Dundee" co-star Linda Kozlowski in 1990 following an ugly divorce from his first wife Noelene in 1986.

Hogan has been in the headlines again recently for an alleged multi-million dollar tax bill from his native Australia.

Following the success of the film, Hogan filmed two more "Crocodile Dundee" movies, including "Crocodile Dundee II" and "Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles."

Hogan also appeared in "Flipper," "Lightning Jack" and "Almost an Angel."
