Police say a New Jersey motorist was arrested after failing to pay a bridge toll - in addition to owing at least $78,000 to E-ZPass.

According to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Spirodon Fragoulias faced charges Friday for driving across the Goethals Bridge from New Jersey to Staten Island without paying.

The Port Authority says Fragoulias, of Colts Neck, has more than 850 violations and owes about $42,000 in fees and $36,000 in tolls.

On Thursday, police saw Fragoulias's tow truck enter the bridge's E-ZPass lane and continue toll-free.

Fragoulias is charged with petty larceny and obstructing governmental administration. His truck was impounded, and his E-ZPass was revoked.
