GMC is launching its all-new small crossover with a trio of turbocharged four-cylinder engines, including a 1.6-liter diesel. They're all avaialble with front or all-wheel-drive, and controlled by a pushbutton gear selector that makes more room on the center console for all your stuff. The Terrain's new look features a "floating" roof design and signature C-shaped daytime ruinning lights. Autonomous emergency braking and a luxed up Denali version will be available. (GM)

Volkswagen's smallest SUV is (finally) being replaced with an all-new model based on the VW Golf that comes to the U.S. in a stretched-wheelbase form with an optional third row of seats. This titanic Tiguan will take on the likes of the Honda CR-V and Nissan Rogue with a 184 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that burns gas, not diesel, forwhat should be obvious reasons by now. Speaking of buzz, Kia's new midsize sports sedan looks ready to fly. It has rear-wheel-drive, just like the big boys in the segment, an optional 365 horsepower 3.3-liter turbocharged V6, and a list of amentiies that belie its bargain-basement brand image. (Detroit News - DG)
Audi is joining the sport utility "coupe" fray with a Q7-based vehicle that draws styling elements from its legendary Quattro sports car and combines them with a 442 horsepower plug-in hybrid powertrain. Expect a production version to arrive in 2018. (AP)
The all-new Lexus flagship adopts the brand's new aggressive styling, replaces the old V8 with a more powerful 415 hp twin-turbocharged V6, and is loaded with luxury and technology, incuding reclining rear seats with a shiatsu massage function and a pedestrian detection system that can not only brake to avoid them, but also steer around them if there's room to keep the car in its lane. Your children have nowhere to hide in the new Honda Odyssey. It's avaialble with a rear passenger-monitoring camera equipped with night vision. Don't like what you see going on back there? There's an intercom that lets you admonish those in the second and third rows without shouting, whether or not they're listening to the speakers or headphones. Don't worry about getting too distracted by all the nonsense going on, a full suite of autonomous safety features -- emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, etc. - is offered. (AP)
The Nissan Qashqai sold around the world is named after a people of northern Iran, but you don't need to know that because it'll be called the Rogue Sport when it goes on sale in the USA this spring. One size smaller than the standard Rogue, which was Nissan's best-selling model last year, the Rogue sport features a 141 horsepower 2.0-liter four cylinder engine and automatic emergency brakes. With the rise of crossover sales, the Toyota Camry's 15-year streak ass the best-selling car in America is threatened this year, but it's not giving up without a fight. The all-new 2018 model features a radically aggressive design, upgraded interior trim, and new four-cylinder, V6 and hybrid powertrains that promise improved power and efficiency across the board. Nissan has a strong track record of introducing concepts that look almost exactly like the production vehicles that follow, so say hello to the nextd Altima. OK, its suicide doors probably won't make it past the bean counters, but its sharply-creased body and floating roof will likely get through. So will its ProPilot autonomous highway driving technology, but maybe not the exterior lights that indicate to other cars when its active. (AP)
Nissan's luxury brand, Infiniti, unveiled an even closer to production concept for its next QX 50. The curvaceous crossover features the world's first variable compression ratio engine, which was engineered to provide improved power and fuel economy, plus Infiniti's new Pro Pilot semi-autonomous driving technology, which can handle stop-and-go and higway driving pretty much on its own while keeping an eye on the traffic around it.
