From concept SUVs to track-ready supercars, here is a sampling of the new metal that debuted in New York this year. By Jeff Jablansky (AP)

Stop the presses: the single-seat Dodge Challenger Demon has 840 hp, thanks to a larger supercharger and a host of other performance enhancements. Click here to read more about the limited-edition, uber-Challenger. (AP)

Buick’s bread-and-butter Enclave SUV is completely redesigned, and it’s lighter and more stylish than the model it replaces. It’s also the first Buick to get the Avenir luxury treatment. (AP)

The latest show car from Hyundai's luxury brand Genesis is a glimpse into the future of its SUV strategy. The GV80 Concept is a fuel-cell vehicle with a minimalist interior and an expressive exterior. Expect a production GV80 to debut within about three years. (AP)

Rounding out a lineup that includes the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell are the Clarity Plug-In Hybrid and Clarity EV. Their sheetmetal is the same, but they’re different under the skin. The EV is expected to deliver range of 80 all-electric miles, while the Plug-In Hybrid will allow 42 miles of electric drive before switching over to its 1.5-liter gasoline engine. (AP)

This is a 707-hp version of the popular Jeep Grand Cherokee. Really. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk takes the SRT trim level and ups the game. It’s estimated to get to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and do the quarter mile under 12 seconds. Click here to read more about it. (AP)

Do you really need a 503-hp SUV with the body of a coupe? Mercedes-AMG hopes you at least desire one, which is why it’s introducing the GLC 63 Coupe alongside the 469-hp GLC 63 SUV. Smoke everyone in the neighborhood in your cute ute, except for the guy with the Challenger SRT Demon. (AP)

Slotting in between the Nissan GT-R and GT-R Nismo is the GT-R Track Edition, which balances on-road usability and track prowess. It retains the standard, 565-hp engine, while gaining the GT-R Nismo’s broader body and wheels. (AP)

It’s a concept for now, but expect the Ascent SUV to join Subaru’s lineup sooner rather than later. Capitalizing on the growing demand for SUVs, Subaru will build the production, three-row Ascent in Indiana in or around 2018. (AP)

New York is the brand-new Volvo XC60’s first stop in the United States, and it makes a snazzy first impression. Much more than a baby XC90, the XC60 is another elegant expression of Swedish luxury and performance. (AP)

Look past the bright orange paint, and there’s a credible, forthcoming idea from Toyota in the FT-4X Concept. Designed to be as versatile, say, as a Jeep Renegade, the FT-4X (Future Toyota-Four-Wheel-Drive Crossover) is an active lifestyle vehicle for the millennial age. (AP)

The big news about Acura’s midsize sedan is that its shiny, new grille is complemented by an optional, sporty A-Spec package. Think of it as a driver-focused evolution of the TLX. (Acura)

Next to the R8 halo coupe, the sportiest Audi is now the TT-RS: a 400-hp rocket that has a 0-to-60 time of under 4 seconds. Make sure to check out the design details, including unique 7-spoke wheels and taillights that have a 3D effect. (Audi)

Talk about a big debut: The Infiniti QX80 Monograph is a behemoth of an SUV, intended to foreshadow its coming evolution. More of a monolith than a Monograph (whatever that means), it’s a thinly veiled look at the next-generation QX80. (Infiniti)

Sitting opposite the Infiniti QX80 Monograph on the show floor was Lincoln’s interpretation of the gargantuan SUV, the totally new Navigator. It shows a changed, in-your-face styling direction for Lincoln on the outside, while offering serenity in a commodious cabin. (AP)

The Lexus LS500 isn’t even out yet, but the Japanese luxury brand is already expanding its offering with an F Sport styling package. You’ll know an LS500 F Sport when you see it based on its 20-inch wheels, a darker grille, and special exterior trim. (Lexus)

Not to be outdone by the recently redesigned Honda Odyssey, Toyota brought its 2018 Sienna minivan to the stage in New York. A flatter front fascia and enhanced safety technology are the highlights of the re-mod. (AP)

Can you spot the changes to the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport for 2018? Squint, and pay close attention to the modified bumpers front and rear, as well as a larger infotainment screen. Mitsubishi is hoping the improvments make the Outlander worth a second look. (Mitsubishi)

With 205 hp and a 6-speed manual transmission, the latest Honda Civic Si splits the difference between the standard Civic and the forthcoming Civic Type R. Available as either a coupe or sedan, the Civic Si will cost roughly $25,000. (Honda)

It’s not an entirely new model, but the 2018 Ford Explorer sports a blockier grille, in-car 4G LTE wi-fi capability, and plenty of active safety equipment. (Ford)

For 2018, the Jaguar F-type will offer a 296-hp turbocharged four-cylinder as its entry-level engine. This is a good thing. In addition to being less expensive, it’s also lighter and nearly as quick as a six-cylinder F-type. (Jaguar)

RST stands for “Rally Sport Truck,” and the latest, special-edition Chevrolet Tahoe gets a 420-hp V-8 and plenty of eye candy details. See more here. (Chevrolet)

Little more than an appearance package, the Nissan 370Z Heritage Edition Coupe gives a little bit of life to an aging sports car. Look for smokier exterior details and a stripe package to distinguish it from other 370Zs. (Nissan)
