Harrisburg: Unsettled Weather to Start the Week

The first part of the week will feature a humid and unsettled weather pattern for Harrisburg.

Chances for showers and thunderstorms can be expected in the late afternoon and evening hours for the next few days.

Warm weather will be persistent, with high temperatures soaring into the lower 80s each afternoon. This is about 10 degrees above the normal for the middle of May.

Spotty showers and thunderstorms that develop on Monday and Tuesday will be capable of producing gusty winds, small hail and a downpour.

While the rain and storms may be a nuisance as people go about their day, the region is in need of rain and was officially declared abnormally dry by the United States Drought Monitor on Thursday.

Though much of the day will likely be dry, a raincoat, waterproof boots and an umbrella will still come in handy to stay dry when an afternoon storm pops up.

This front will push east of the region by Wednesday and a return to pleasant and dry weather can be expected for the later part of the week.
