A man initially suspected of gunshots near a Mississippi military base is returning to prison.

Jackson County Circuit Judge Robert Krebs on Friday revoked the probation of Alfred Baria Sr., 62, sentencing him to two years' imprisonment.

Deputy Circuit Clerk Mary Hall says Krebs also sentenced Baria to three years of post-release supervision.

Baria was arrested Aug. 6 after soldiers reported gunshots near Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center. Baria told officials the sounds were only his truck backfiring. However, Baria has been convicted three times on felony charges, most recently in 2006, and can't legally have guns. Officials found guns in the home he shares with his son.

Baria still faces a separate felony charge for illegal gun possession and four misdemeanor disturbing the peace charges in Perry County.
