With the deadline for setting the field for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup fast approaching, Richard Childress Racing has made a crew chief change for driver Paul Menard.

Veteran Danny Stockman is Menard's new Sprint Cup crew chief, replacing Justin Alexander.

Menard made the Chase last year for the first time in his career, but right now is mired in 23rd place in the Sprint Cup standings, a disappointing position to be in at this point in the season.

Stockman will be atop the pit box with Menard during Sunday's race at Pocono Raceway.

In seven years with RCR, Stockman has two championships and nine combined race victories in the NASCAR XFINITY and Camping World Truck Series. Stockman and Menard worked together for the past two years in the XFINITY Series, winning at Road America last year.

RCR is also making a change in its XFINITY operation.

RCR's current NASCAR XFINITY Series Director, Gil Martin, will serve as interim crew chief for the No. 2 Rheem/Menards program.
