Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Braves announced Thursday that pitcher Mike Minor had shoulder surgery and will miss the remainder of the season.

The procedure took place on Wednesday and no other details were released.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the procedure was exploratory after an MRI exam showed no structural damage. The report added that if any damage was found, it would result in his season being over.

Minor missed just about all of spring training with shoulder issues and was shut down. A brief attempt at a rehab start a month ago also resulted in shoulder pain.

The left-hander started 25 games a season ago and posted a 6-12 mark with a 4.77 ERA. He had a career year in 2013, going 13-9 with a 3.21 ERA in 32 starts.

Over his five-year career, Minor is 38-36 with a 4.10 ERA in 111 games.
