LOUDON, N.H. – The president of 5-Hour Energy says he will "see how the year plays out" before deciding on whether to keep its sponsorship with Michael Waltrip Racing.
Scott Henderson says that he wants to win with integrity. He says "I wonder about integrity" following the Richmond scandal that has already cost MWR its NAPA sponsorship.
MWR driver Martin Truex Jr. was kicked out of the Chase. MWR was also fined $300,000, general manager Ty Norris was suspended indefinitely and all three crew chiefs for its drivers were placed on probation for the rest of the year.
The energy-shot brand is the primary sponsor for Chase driver Clint Bowyer. Henderson had a friendly chat with Bowyer before the start of Sunday's Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire.
Waltrip said Friday he expected 5-Hour Energy to remain with MWR.
