Arturo Vidal's penalty kick in the 57th minute was the difference as Juventus topped Serie A rival AC Milan, 1-0, on Sunday at Juventus Stadium.

The result puts Juve within four points of retaining the Scudetto, which can be secured as early as next weekend if Napoli fails to beat Pescara and the Old Lady claims three points against Torino.

Milan, meanwhile, sits just one point above fourth-place Fiorentina for the final Champions League place with five matches to play.

Marco Amelia came on in the first half to replace injured goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, and Amelia had to be sharp to keep out a deflected free kick from Andrea Pirlo shortly before halftime.

But Amelia was at the center of Juve taking the lead in the 57th minute when he brought down Kwadwo Asamoah inside the area.

Vidal stepped to the spot and sent an unstoppable shot into the upper corner of the net, while Milan's best efforts over the final 30 minutes came from Sulley Muntari and Riccardo Montolivo, who were both turned away by goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

Inter Milan 1, Parma 0

Milan, Italy - Inter Milan snapped a two-game slide on Sunday at the San Siro with a 1-0 defeat of Parma.

Tommaso Rocchi scored eight minutes from time to help Inter overcome its injury woes and lift the club to 53 points on the season, good enough for fifth place through 33 games.

Parma has lost two straight Serie A matches to remain on 39 points.

Fiorentina 4, Torino 3

Florence, Italy - Romulo scored with four minutes remaining to help Fiorentina emerge from a seven-goal thriller in victory as it edged Torino 4-3 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday.

The home side took a three-goal lead thanks to Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Alberto Aquilani and Adem Ljajic, but the visitors answered through Paulo Vito Barreto, Mario Santana and Alessio Cerci.

Fiorentina managed to retain fourth place in Italy's top flight thanks to Romulo's 86th-minute winner and Matteo Darmian's late red card, which essentially ended the contest.

Napoli 3, Cagliari 2

Naples, Italy - Napoli kept its title hopes alive on Sunday after claiming a dramatic 3-2 victory over Cagliari at the Stadio San Paolo.

Cagliari found itself leading by halftime thanks to Segundo Ibarbo's 18th- minute strike, but the home side answered through a Davide Astori own goal in the 48th minute and Edinson Cavani's league-leading 23rd goal of the season.

Marco Sau leveled the score in the 71st minute, but Napoli went on too claim all three points behind Lorenzo Insigne's winner in the third minute of added time, lifting the club to 66 points on the season.

Chievo 1, Siena 0

Siena, Italy - Chievo put an end to its two-game slide by earning a 1-0 victory over Siena at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday.

The lone goal came from Sergio Pellissier, who struck just before halftime to see Chievo improve to 39 points this term.

Siena remains ensconced in a battle against relegation, sitting just one point above the drop zone with 30 points through 33 matches.

Roma 1, Pescara 1

Rome, Italy - Roma and Pescara exchanged goals on opposite sides of halftime as the two clubs split the points in a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

Gianluca Caprari helped the visitors start brightly with a goal in the 14th minute, but Mattia Destro struck six minutes after the halftime interval to get the home side on level terms.

The remainder of the match played out without any further scoring, seeing Roma climb to 52 points and Pescara to 22.

Catania 1, Palermo 1

Catania, Italy - Josip Ilicic scored deep into second-half stoppage time to give Palermo a valuable point in its quest for safety with a 1-1 draw at Catania on Sunday.

Pablo Barrientos thought he had handed Catania the win when he scored in the 69th minute, but Ilicic bagged the equalizer in the fifth minute of added time to extend Palermo's unbeaten run to four games in Serie A play.

Palermo occupies the final relegation spot with 29 points, sitting one point shy of safety. Catania has drawn three league matches in a row to climb to 48 points.

Bologna 1, Sampdoria 1

Bologna, Italy - Bologna and Sampdoria played to a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara on Sunday, a result that does not do either side many favors.

The two clubs remain separated in the table by one point as Bologna improves to 39 points and Sampdoria to 38, but one wrong turn could see either side slip into a relegation battle.

Alberto Gilardino bagged the opening goal in the 24th minute of Sunday's affair, but it was canceled out by Gianluca Sansone in the 59th minute.
