Phillies cut Cook loose

The Philadelphia Phillies released pitcher Aaron Cook on Tuesday.

Cook made three starts in six appearances for Philadelphia this spring after signing a minor league contract with club back in January. He went 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA, allowing 19 hits over 18 2/3 innings.

The 34-year-old lefty had spent his initial 10 major league seasons with the Colorado Rockies before joining the Boston Red Sox in 2012. Over 18 starts in Boston, Cook went 4-11 with a 5.65 ERA.

Cook has made 224 starts in 256 games over the course of his career, totaling a 76-79 record with a lifetime 4.60 earned run average.
