Doha, Qatar – Australian Open runner-up Li Na decided to pull out of next week's Qatar Open, citing an ankle injury she suffered in the final in Melbourne last month.
The 30-year-old world No. 5 Li is a two-time Aussie Open finalist and captured a French Open title in 2011.
American Venus Williams withdrew from the Qatar tournament earlier this week, citing a back injury.
The Doha field, however, still features nine of the top-10 players in the WTA rankings.
