Denver, CO – The "Birdman" won't be flying in Denver after a memorable second run in the Mile High City.
The Nuggets have used their amnesty provision on forward/center Chris Andersen, whose contact, according to the Denver Post, is worth over $9 million over the next two years.
The salary will not count towards Denver's salary cap, but Andersen will see the full dollar amount.
The Denver Post reported the Nuggets will use the cap space to sign free agent forward Anthony Randolph, who averaged 7.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 34 games for the Timberwolves last season.
Andersen had a career resurgence when he re-joined the Nuggets four years ago. The 6-foot-10 big man averaged 6.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 2008-09, then produced similar numbers the next year before having his playing time reduced the last two seasons.
The Nuggets signed Andersen as an undrafted free agent in 2001 and, after his stint in New Orleans was marred by a two-year suspension for drug use, signed him again in 2008.
