Two-time French Open runner-up Robin Soderling will miss January's Australian Open as he continues to battle mononucleosis.

The former world No. 4 is currently ranked 13th in the world after missing most of the second half of the ATP season. He was also slowed by a wrist injury this past summer.

Soderling mentioned on his Twitter account that he hopes "for a tournament comeback in February."

The 27-year-old star, who captured four titles in 2011, has been sidelined since mid-July after winning a championship in Bastad in his native Sweden.

The 2012 Australian Open will get underway January 16 in Melbourne.
