Singer Morrissey has never been shy about sharing his controversial views. But the former Smiths frontman may have crossed the line when he recently compared eating meat to pedophilia, during an online interview with fans.

When he was asked by one of the participants why he became a vegetarian, Steven Morrissey didn’t hold back.

“I see no difference between eating animals and paedophilia [sic],” he replied. “They are both rape, violence, murder.”

He said he wants nothing to do with meat-eaters.

“If I'm introduced to anyone who eats beings, I walk away. Imagine, for example, if you were in a nightclub and someone said to you ‘Hello, I enjoy bloodshed, throat-slitting and the destruction of life,’ well, I doubt if you'd want to exchange phone numbers.”

Several questions later, another fan asked Morrissey more about his thoughts on vegetarianism. The English star took the opportunity to rip celebrity chefs who promote eating animals.

“I would like to ask all so-called celebrity chefs why they believe that animals should have no right to live. If Jamie 'Orrible is so certain that flesh-food is tasty then why doesn't he stick one of his children in a microwave? It would taste the same as cooked lamb,” Morrissey declared.

The “Let Me Kiss You” crooner has become known for his outspoken nature. In the past he wished death upon Margaret Thatcher, which led to an investigation of the singer, and later said he wished George W. Bush had died instead of Ronald Reagan when the former president passed away.

Reps for Morrissey could not immediately be reached for further comment.
