A tour bus has flipped over on a highway near Taiwan's capital, killing 17 people and trapping many others.

Taiwan's Central News Agency said about 40 people were on board the bus when it turned over on a ramp near Taipei on Monday evening.

It said numerous passengers were trapped inside the bus.

No other information was immediately available.
