A South African judge will rule Dec. 8 on whether to dismiss the murder case against a British businessman accused of arranging the killing of his wife during their 2010 honeymoon in South Africa.

Deputy Judge President Jeanette Traverso said Tuesday that she would decide on defense arguments that the case against Shrien Dewani should be thrown out on the grounds that state prosecutors had insufficient evidence to prove Dewani's guilt.

Dewani was arrested in Britain in 2010 and was extradited to Cape Town earlier this year.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges when his trial began in October. He says he and his wife, Anni, were hijacked at gunpoint.
