Police say an injured man has barricaded himself with a weapon in a restaurant in the western city of Saarbruecken.

Police spokesman Kurt Schwindling said the man, a relative of the restaurant owner, had entered the place Sunday morning and sent all the cleaning staff outside. Schwindling said the man, who was not further identified, was probably suffering from psychological problems. Police did not know exactly what kind of weapon he had.

Police officers are currently talking to him and trying to convince him to end the standoff.

Police said the man didn't take any hostages and terrorism was not an issue. It was not clear why the man was injured.
