Judicial official: Lebanon identifies 1 of the suicide bombers who attacked Iranian embassy

A senior judicial official in Lebanon says officials likely have identified one of the suicide bombers who targeted the Iranian embassy in Beirut in an attack that killed 23 people.

The official said Friday that the suspected bomber, Mouin Abu Daher, is from the southern Lebanese city of Sidon. The official said authorities suspect him as his father told investigators his son was involved.

He said officials took samples from the father to compare his DNA to the remains of one of the suspected bomber.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't allowed to release the information.

The double bombing Tuesday was one of the deadliest in a series of attacks targeting Hezbollah and Shiite strongholds in Lebanon in recent months. An al-Qaida-linked group claimed responsibility.
