Former East German first lady Margot Honecker dies in Chile

Former East German first lady Margot Honecker has died in Chile at age 89.

A family friend and member of the Chilean Communist Party confirms Friday's death.

Honecker had lived since 1992 in Chile. Her husband, former leader Erich Honecker, died in 1994 after joining her there.
