Canada's prime minister on visit to Ukraine

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is meeting with Ukraine's president for talks on his first visit to this country.

Ukrainian rolled out a red carpet for Trudeau at the welcome ceremony outside President Petro Poroshenko's office in central Kiev on Monday.

Canada is home to a sizeable Ukrainian minority and has been a key backer for Ukraine during the two-year separatist war in the east.

Trudeau and Poroshenko are expected to sign agreements on free trade and military cooperation.
