Burkina Faso striker Aristide Bance faces a race against time to be fit for the start of the new Bundesliga season next month after breaking his left forearm in a friendly.

The 28-year-old came off the bench for the second half of Augsburg's 1-1 draw against third-division Heidenheim, but the African international suffered the injury in a fall and needs an operation.

Bance joined Augsburg, who only narrowly survived relegation at the end of last season, in July 2012 and has made 18 league appearances for the Bavarians without hitting the back of the net.

Augsburg begin their Bundesliga season at home to Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund on August 10.
