Wildfires in Oregon, California destroy homes; progress on largest Washington fire

In this Sunday July 13, 2014, photo released by the Oregon Dept. of Forestry, the Moccasin Hill fire burns north of Sprague River and northeast of Klamath Falls, Ore. Lightning struck Oregon more than 6,000 times Sunday and Monday, touching off small fires by the dozens. Such a barrage can be expected to cause numerous "sleeper" or holdover fires in coming days. A destructive wildfire in southern Oregon is now 15 percent contained.

The fire, which destroyed six homes and 14 other buildings on Sunday, did not damage any more structures on Monday.

Fire spokeswoman Erica Hupp says accurate mapping early Monday evening found the Moccasin Hill fire covers about 4 square miles.

Hupp says the attack plan for Tuesday is to keep working on containment lines and do some mopping up in areas that have already burned.
