St. Louis City Hall has been evacuated after two cylinders and a suspicious bag were found at entrances to the building.

City spokeswoman Maggie Crane says an employee arriving for work around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday found one of the cylinders and alerted a city marshal. The cylinder was found under an archway at one entrance. A similar cylinder and a bag were found at other entrances.

Crane says there have been no written or verbal threats. The building was evacuated and portions of nearby Market Street, Clark Street and Tucker Boulevard were closed. The police bomb and arson squad and the Fire Department were called in. Several fire trucks are on the scene.

Workers assembled across the street but no other buildings near the area were evacuated.
