Police in Georgia say the apparent armed kidnapping of a woman from an Atlanta-area motel was actually a plot targeting her male companion.
In a statement Monday, Gwinnett County police named 20-year-old Christina Day and 30-year-old Timothy Wingfield as suspects in the armed robbery investigation. The lead detective learned Day and Wingfield knew each other, and the armed robbery was likely pre-planned.
Police had said Day and a male friend were in a Crossland Economy Studios motel room when Wingfield knocked on their door around 2 a.m. on Jan. 31, produced a gun, demanded belongings, took Day and left in the victim's vehicle. The stolen car was recovered hours later.

Police initially said the woman may answer to "Kristen." She was identified the next day.
Neither suspect has been located.
