A federal grand jury has indicted a New Orleans man accused of shooting a Louisiana sheriff's deputy who was leading a federal drug raid on his home.
On Friday, U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite said 26-year-old Jarvis Hardy was indicted on eight counts. Hardy faces one count of attempted murder of a federal officer, two weapons charges and five drug charges.
Jarvis is accused of shooting Stephen Arnold on Jan. 26 during a drug raid at his home in the Lower 9th Ward neighborhood. Arnold, a Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputy, was part of a Drug Enforcement Administration raid on Hardy's home.
