Authorities say a South Florida man beheaded a dog and duck outside his suburban apartment.
Media outlets report that Palm Beach County deputies responded to the home Tuesday evening and found 28-year-old Javier Orelly digging a hole next to a headless dog. An arrest report says a neighbor had called 911, saying Orelly was kicking and throwing the dog around near a shrine in front of the apartment.
After changing his story several times, Orelly reportedly told deputies that he sacrificed the dog because he was stressed and needed to "cleanse himself."

Deputies found the dog's head nearby, next to what turned out to be the remains of a duck.
Orelly faces two animal cruelty charges. A judge ordered him held without bail pending a mental-health evaluation.
