A gang member has been sentenced to nearly 26 years for the death of a 5-year-old boy who was shot while posing in his Halloween costume in a South Los Angeles backyard.
City News Service says Marcus Denson declared his remorse before his sentencing Thursday.
The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and attempted murder for the 2010 Halloween attack that killed Aaron Shannon Jr. and wounded his grandfather and uncle.

The boy was posing for pictures in his Spider-Man costume when he was shot in the head.
Prosecutors say Denson and another man had entered an alley in a rival gang's territory and opened fire. But the victims had no gang ties.
The convicted shooter, 26-year-old Leonard Hall Jr., is serving 128 years to life for second-degree murder.
