An account has been set up to help the family of a Flagstaff, Arizona, police officer who was shot and killed by a domestic violence suspect over the weekend.
A police spokeswoman, Sgt. Margaret Bentzen, says Officer Tyler Stewart is survived by his parents, three sisters and a girlfriend. People can donate to the Tyler Stewart Memorial account at Wells Fargo bank to help the family with expenses.
The 24-year-old officer was shot Saturday afternoon while speaking with a suspect in an earlier domestic violence report. Police say Stewart asked 28-year-old Robert Smith if he could check him for weapons. That's when Smith pulled a handgun and shot Stewart several times.

Smith then walked away and fatally shot himself.
Police said Monday that arrangements for Stewart's funeral are still pending.
