A former World Trade Center visitor center worker has been sentenced to six months in jail after admitting he stole about $12,000 from the nonprofit organization.
Emmanuel Reyes declined to speak at his sentencing Monday in Manhattan. His lawyer later said Reyes was a loving father with a history of learning disabilities.
Reyes was an assistant manager at the Tribute WTC Visitor Center. Prosecutors say he stole from the cash register and doctored receipts to cover his tracks.
