Defense in Colorado theater attack asks judge to move trial, says most potential jurors biased
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Defense attorneys in the Colorado theater shooting case have again asked a judge to move the trial, saying most prospective jurors believe defendant James Holmes is guilty and can't set their opinions aside.
The request contained in court documents released Monday comes as attorneys are questioning individual jury candidates,
Defense attorneys say 68 percent of the more than 3,500 prospective jurors who answered written questionnaires believe Holmes is guilty.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The documents say 39 percent believe Holmes was sane or not mentally ill during the 2012 attack that left 12 people dead and 70 injured.
Defense attorneys also say more than 30 percent of prospective jurors believe Holmes should be sentenced to death.
Judge Carlos A. Samour Jr. gave prosecutors until March 27 to respond to the request.
