Police say a driver who may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs struck four pedestrians crossing a street Monday, killing two and critically injuring two others — a woman and the infant she was carrying.
The accident happened shortly after 4 p.m. in a north Seattle residential neighborhood.
Seattle police spokesman Jeff Kappel says the driver of the vehicle, a 50-year-old Seattle man, was in custody and under investigation for possibly driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

One adult male and one adult female were pronounced dead at the scene, Kappel says. Kyle Moore, Seattle Fire Department spokesman, says the injured were a 25-year-old female and a 2-week-old infant.
Moore says the woman and infant were in critical condition and taken to Harborview Medical Center.
