Jet Blue, Hawaiian Air Share Tickets, Flier Miles

Jet Blue (NASDAQ:JBLU) and Hawaiian Air (NASDAQ:HA) have partnered to allow passengers to fly on both carriers’ flights on a single ticket.
The partnership, typical of those in the airline industry, allows the carriers to expand their reach without having to expensively add flights on their own. When it starts on June 5, it will be the only nonstop service between New York City and Hawaii.
Customers taking off from the island will be able to fly straight to JetBlue’s base at New York’s JFK in a wide-body, twin-aisle Airbus A330-200 aircraft seating 294 customers. Hawaiian Flight 51 will depart JFK daily in the mid-morning and arrive at the Honolulu International Airport in the late afternoon. The return flight will leave Honolulu just after 3 PM and arrive in New York early the following morning.

“Our customers have long asked for options to the Aloha State, and today we’re proud to partner with Hawaiian Airlines to get them there in comfort and style,” Hawaiian Airlines CEO Dave Barger said in a statement.
Customers from both airlines will be able to earn or redeem frequent flier miles on each other’s flights when the more direct Honolulu to New York service begins this spring.
