A neighbor's quick thinking is credited for saving a man's arm.
John Stirling, of East Sussex, England, accidentally sliced off his arm in a chainsaw accident and knocked on neighbor Steve Francis' door to "calmly" ask for help.
"He wasn't screaming, he was as relaxed as can be," Francis, 49, told the Brighton Argus.

Stirling is believed to have been cutting a tree when his chainsaw slipped and cut his arm off below the elbow.
Francis called an ambulance and then tied up the upper portion of Stirling's arm with a belt and towels. Francis also placed the severed portion of the arm in a shopping bag and then into a frozen pastry bag to keep it cold.
Stirling underwent 14 hours of emergency surgery to reattach his arm. A spokesman at the hospital said, "It is early ... but we are hopeful it has been a success."

"He is comfortable and the early indications are that the procedure went well," the spokesman added.
