South Florida Students Shiver Through Class
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}South Florida schools had trouble keeping up with the recent cold spell.
One parent in Palm Beach Gardens said his son was sitting in a 52-degree classroom. Another said her 9-year-old daughter came home complaining every day she was cold.
The buildings are heated, but many cannot keep up with a cold snap as severe as Florida saw. The head facilities manager in Palm Beach County says their heaters are not designed to raise the temperature more than 20 degrees.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}School dress codes were being relaxed, but some parents say their children weren't allowed to keep coats on.
Fortunately, they won't have to worry about it soon. Highs are forecast in the upper 70s over the weekend.
