An Army reservist at Missouri's Fort Leonard Wood has been sentenced to 30 years in military prison for killing another soldier's wife.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Spc. Jermaine Johnson of Mobile, Ala., was sentenced late Friday. Earlier in the day, he pleaded guilty to murder at his court-martial at the mid-Missouri Army base. The charge was reduced from premeditated murder, and several other charges were dropped.
Johnson admitted killing 23-year-old Maria Silva, who was found dead last Oct. 14. She was the wife of Pfc. Benjamin Silva, who was also stationed at Fort Leonard Wood.
