CENTREVILLE, Va. – Fairfax County police say a youth baseball coach accused of molesting a 12-year-old boy under his supervision failed to appear for his scheduled guilty plea.
Police say they are actively searching for 38-year-old John Hamilton of Centreville.
Hamilton coached in the Fort Hunt Youth Athletic Association in the 1990s and police say a 24-year-old man reported in February that he was sexually assaulted in 1997. Police said the man came forward after he saw Hamilton at a store with another young boy.
Hamilton was charged with aggravated sexual battery and three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a supervisory relationship.
Court records show that Hamilton had agreed to enter guilty pleas on Oct. 7. A warrant was issued for his arrest when he did not appear.
