A Lowell man is accused of trying to cash in on a fake $400 lottery ticket.
Rigoberto Vega pleaded not guilty this week in Lowell District Court to charges of distributing of a false scratch ticket.
According to court documents, the 29-year-old tried to cash the fake ticket Saturday at a convenience store.

Authorities said the clerk realized the ticket was fake but Vega offered to sell it for $200 because he had "an emergency."
Police said Vega agreed to sell the bogus ticket for $80 plus a pack of cigarettes. He was arrested shortly afterward.
Vega was released on personal recognizance at his arraignment Monday and scheduled for a pretrial conference April 21.
